Today, I am going to Chicago! -- I probably forgot to mention that...BUT I am seriously so, so excited. We leave for the airport in one hour! I'll be attending the HOW Design Conference in downtown Chicago with Jenny. We have been planning and dreaming about this conference for months and we can't wait!
We have a little time before and after the conference to explore the city. Anyone have any MUST SEE//EAT//DO suggestions?? I'm bringing along this city guide from Design*Sponge and I had a friend of mine who used to live there give me the brief Chicago 101...So I'll be riding the "L" and definitely getting some deep dish pizza! Mmmm...
I will still be posting while I'm gone and will most definitely plan to show you some pictures along the way! --- Geeky awesome design conference, here I come! Trends, technology, & fonts! Oh my!
I love love love Chicago. Used to live there during college and I miss it so much. I'd recommend a mix of touristy/non-touristy activities depending on how much time you have. A lot of Chicagoans are a little snobby about downtown and the tourist attractions, but I think they're fun! And if you want to go thrifting or do something a little more low-key, Wicker Park/Bucktown is one of my favorite areas. Have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteAw yay, have fun! You might get rained on today it's a bit cooler today than it has been this week. I would say if you can (it might be far) check out Renegade Handmade store, it's really cute down there and lots of artsy shops to see ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm beyond jealous of your trip. I've been trying to make it to a HOW conference for years now, and the timing is always off. You'll have to let me know how it is and maybe next year we can go together!
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to go to Chicago, have a blast!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! I've never been, but have always wanted to go there. If you have time, stop at Sabon (http://sabonnyc.com), the most amazing bath and body shop. I always go and stock up when I'm in NYC and just found out there's one in Chicago. Makes me want to move there. haha
ReplyDeleteChicago is my hometown! I love the museums - Museum of Science and Industry and the Adler Planetarium are two of my favorites. You should also see who's playing at Schuba's this weekend - such a great little venue. And I love the ferris wheel at Navy Pier. But I'm kind of a dork like that. :) And if you want to venture out of the city, head for Oak Park to the Frank Lloyd Wright museum and walking tour of the town. You won't regret it!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Chicago this weekend! I'm planning on going to Shedd Aquarium because I have a serious obsession with hammerhead sharks. If you like hot dogs (weird, I know), Portillo's has the BEST. Hope you have fun xx
