CURRENTLY READING

This year I've added a pretty "cliche" goal to my list: READ MORE! I absolutely love reading informational books that are focused on development, creativity, or practical information. Matter of fact, I tend to collect them and totally forget to actually READ them. Not awesome. So with the extra time I've had resting, being sick, and doing my best to take it easy before baby arrives, I haven't had an excuse not to get started on a few books that have been on my reading list for awhile. I'm also hoping the hours and hours of nursing in my near future will also result in some reading time. :)

Here are the books I'm currently reading and pouring over. So far I'm loving all of them a gigantic amount. Since I haven't finished them quite yet I won't do a review, but so far, I highly recommend picking up any one of these books:

BOOKS FEATURED
* The Happiest Baby on the Block - Ways to calm a crying baby & help your newborn sleep better.
* A Beautiful Mess Photo Idea Book - Inspirational & fun for anyone wanting to amp up their photos!
* Brining Up Bebe - A mommy shares her experience with French parenting.
* Jesus Calling - Daily devotional. SO GOOD!
* Happier at Home - Enjoying everyday life and loving your home.

What is on your reading list? Any "must-read" suggestions for me? I'm always on the hunt!

IT'S TIME FOR FALL!

Jenny and I have had several couch conversations talking about fall, the traditions, the things we look forward to...the fact that it's like a grand introduction to the holiday season, which we LOVE. The way we feel about going to Disney is the same way we feel about fall and the holidays! October, November, and December are pretty much my favorite time of the year. :) It's strange to think that this will be the last holiday season with just Jon and me. Next year we'll have little Soren with us and I can't wait to share life with him. :)

I'm not always the type to be gung-ho about taking part in traditions. Especially if they don't have a particular relevance or meaning to me. BUT I DO love me some seasonal traditions and special things each year we can do as a family. I love it!

This week marked the official start of fall and it's had me thinking about boots, giant sweaters, apple cider, delicious food, fires in the fireplace. Our backyard has lots of trees in it and I've been watching the leaves fall throughout the week. It's so beautiful and I can't wait to see the colors become vibrant and change.

To get into the fall spirit and do a little bit of "fall forcing", I've put together some of my recent favorite fall goodies.

1// Doily Pumpkins 2// Aberdeen Lace-Up Boot 3// Pumpkin Butter 4// Apple Cider Float 5// The Taplin Bag 6// Pumpkin Cookies 7// Illusion Waves Scarf 8// Keep Warm 9// Giant Scarf 10// Five Bread Recipes for Fall 11// Camp Mug Candle 12// Cable Sweater 13// Pumpkin Spice Donuts 14// Geometric Cardigan 15// Gold Feather 16// Autumn Essentials

MY FALL TO-DO LIST
1// Visit Ellijay in North Georgia.
2// Go apple picking.
3// Visit a pumpkin patch.
4// Go to a corn maze or haunted house.
5// Make lots of apple cider.
6// Have a fall get-together with friends.
7// Get lots of decaf fall lattes.
8// Pass out candy on Halloween.
9// Get mums for the front porch.
10// Bake fall-ish goodies.
11// Enjoy the beautiful weather and practice archery with Jon.
12// Buy a cozy sweater.

What season are you celebrating where you live? What are your favorite traditions and things to do?? :)

2// Jaxen Flats by Need Supply Co. - I love how classy these flats are! I've been looking for a similar style black flat lately and I'm loving the straps on these!

3// Tulum Print by Max Wanger - I'd love to have this print in a massive size to hang in our house. I have a lot of wall space to fill! The colors and feeling of this photograph is stunning. In general, I'm a huge fan of Max Wanger's work.

4// Photo Idea Book by A Beautiful Mess - I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of this book when it comes out in August! These girls are the sweetest and SO inspirational. I know this book will be filled to the brim with inspiration and awesomeness. I'm always on the lookout for photo inspiration!

FANCY SHMANCY: MOOREA SEAL SHOP!

As some of you might know, the beautiful Moorea Seal launched her brand new shop last night! Recently this girl has been working like crazy to put together a team of amazing women and create a beautifully curated shop called Moorea Seal. There you can find her handmade jewelry and tons of other accessories, prints, and home goods from other super talented artists. One of my favorite parts of her new shop is their "Do Good, Do Great" initiative where each artist donates a certain amount of proceeds to a selected charity. You can read more about the charities they support here.

These are some of my favorite picks from the shop:

As a special grand opening bonus, Moorea is offering one of her own jewelry designs, a free tribal queen necklace ($65 value), for everyone that makes an order of $100 or more today. :) Also, you can use the discount code HOORAY! for 10% off of your order! Be sure to go check out all of the goodies! Yay Moorea!!

EASY DIY PROJECTS

I might have mentioned this before, but I'm not a big DIY gal when it comes to making pretty things. My kind of projects are the ones that take under an hour and can be completed and cleaned up easily while in good company or during an episode of Pretty Little Liars. ;) I always get a slight high when I pin an awesome, quick and easy DIY project.

I DO want to be good at home projects and cooking, I'd love to know the best way to restore an old dresser and how to make a mean soup with leftovers. I'm practicing and hopefully over time I'll get better and better! But in the meantime, here are some of my favorite quick DIYs for the non-DIYer. :) Now that some of my energy is slowly picking up (almost done with the first trimester!) I'm definitely planning on doing a couple of these in my spare time. :)

1// Polka Dot Umbrella by Designlovefest 2// Natural Cleaning Products by Kinfolk 3// Creativity with Crayons by Alisa Burke 4// Display Ideas for Instagram by Dot Coms for Moms 5// Beeswax Candles by Oh Happy Day 6// Dipped Spoons by House of Earnest 7// Lemon Peppermint Foot Scrub by Freutcake 8// Recycle Old Letters by Simple Mom 9// Whipped Coconut Body Oil by Babble 10// Decorated Power Cords by Designlovefest

FANCY SHMANCY: JULY WISHLIST

1// Leather Peep-Toe Skimmer by UO - Love these simple flats and all of the colors they come in!

2// Lip Tar by Obsessive Complusive Cosmetics - One of my new favorite lip products! Lip tar is 100% vegan and comes in tons of beautiful colors. The colors are vibrant and a little dot of color is all you need. My sister got me one for my birthday and I love it. You can find Lip Tar at Sephora. :)

3// Monthly Planner by MochiThings - I'm a sucker for calendars and anything organizational.

4// Volcano Candle by Anthropologie - This is one of my all-time favorite smelling candles. It's citrusy with a hint of melon. I just love it and am always smelling it anytime I go into Anthropologie.

5// New Stay Flawless Primer by Benefit Cosmetics - I've been obsessing over Benefit Cosmetics lately. My family got me some of their products for my birthday and I've got an Ulta gift card burning a hole in my pocket! The other day I spent 30 minutes in Sephora talking to a Benefit consultant and having her show me all of the products. It was so fun and made me love the brand even more. I'm looking forward to trying their new primer product. Also, the packaging is superb!!

6// Kick Flare Jeans by Free People - What? I haven't worn a pair of flared jeans since highschool. I've been loving all things Free People lately and I would love to have a pair of their flared jeans as something a little different to add to my wardrobe.

What's on your July wishlist?!

FANCY SHMANCY: JUNE WISHLIST

1// Challis Plazo Pants by Target - LOVE how adorable and flowy these dotted pants are from Target. I've always been into my skinny jeans but these looks perfect for the summer. These would be great paired with a high-waisted belt and light t-shirt...and lots of accessories. Too cute.

2// Kitten Cat Sunglasses by Chicwish - I've been wearing a pair of prescription sunglasses from Warby Parker for about a year now and I'm getting a little tired of wearing the same pair of sunglasses over and over again. I've been thinking about buying a few pairs of inexpensive sunnies for the summertime. Love the style of these beautiful sunglasses!

3// Furniture Makeovers by Barb Blair - I've got a couple pieces of furniture in my house that really, REALLY need some TLC. I can't wait to use this book to learn how to make some of my pieces look amazing. I love the idea of purchasing inexpensive furniture from a thrift store and restoring it to make it awesome.

4// iPhone Cases by Rifle Paper Co. - These might be the best looking iPhone cases on the internet. I'm loving Rifle Paper Co. more and more everyday. They are just fantastic. I'm planning to get an updated phone this month and I have my eye on a few cases from Rifle!

5// Weekender Bag - Is it possible to have too many bags? This bag is TOO good. I'm so sad it's unavailable for purchase, but I'm planning to keep an eye on it just in case it comes back in stock!

What is on your June wishlist? :)

FANCY SHMANCY: POPSUGAR MAY BOX!

Ever since I did my first unboxing video of Popsugar, I've been stoked every month to get one in the mail. I didn't do a review of last month's box, but you get get all of the details of their April "Going Green" box here. This month, I was so excited and thrilled with the surprise products. Although this subscription service is more on the pricier side, I have been extremely happy with each product PLUS they are full-sized, nice products, which is awesome. Below is a reveal of the May box and a review of each product!

1// Kooringal Giselle Mid-Brimmed Hat ($27.99) - While I wasn't too impressed by this hat upon first appearances, it is way cute on! It has wiring all around the brim which allows for great shaping and is very "derby", perfect for the beach or outdoor festival.

2// Questions I Ask When I Want to Talk About Myself by Mindy Kaling ($13.45) - I haven't read any of Mindy's books, so when I saw this in the box I wasn't quite sure what it was. Turns out these are conversation starter cards and each come with a story from Mindy's personal experience and end with a question. All of the questions are printed on beautiful floral cards and look great kept in your living room.

3// Way Better Snacks Chips ($1.00) - I love that Popsugar usually includes a snack in each box. They are fun to try and I've enjoyed trying new food products. I wasn't a huge fan of these particular chips, but don't get me started on the quinoa dark chocolate candy bar from last month's box!

4// Modern Margarita Cocktail Set ($8.29) - I'm one to enjoy an adult beverage every now and then. Particularly on special occasions. So I was excited to have this adorable cocktail set to add to my bar cart in the dining room. It comes with watermelon, blood orange, strawberry, mango and the original flavoring, plus rim crystals. Way cute. These would be fun to make blended margarita's during the summer or mocktails!

5// Pacifica Color Quench Lip Tint ($7.00) - I'm a huge fan of Pacifica, so I was way excited to try out another one of their products. Not a huge fan of this particular scent, so this one might turn into a gift. ;)

6// Charm & Chain Gift Card ($30.00) - Umm...a gift card for jewelries? Yes please! I haven't picked out what I'm going to get yet, but I thought this was a brilliant idea.

7// Beauty Blender & Cleanser ($29.95) - Seriously? This really put this box over the top for me. I LOVE using the beauty blender for my liquid foundation and I have one that my sister gave me, however, I didn't have the cleanser. I was thrilled to see this in the box!

The box also came with a Popsugar bag shown above. I paid $35.00 for this box and the box is worth a total of $111.68. Pretty darn good! Also the excitement of getting it in the mail and opening it is probably priceless. ;) If I've inspired you to maybe get a little gift for yourself, be sure to check out their site! For other subscription services, be sure to take a look at my review of Ipsy, a $10 per month beauty subscription service!

What are some of your favorite subscription services?!

FANCY SHMANCY: MAY WISHLIST

1// Bath & Body Works Candles - This past Saturday, my sister and I had a little shopping date and we were sure to make a stop at Bath & Body Works. I've been having an urge to fill my home with candles lately, so I took some time to smell their 3-wick candles and...omg. They smell amazing. The Market Peach, Summertime S'mores, and Gelato were my favorites. I didn't end up buying any (even though they were on sale!) but I'm definitely putting these on my birthday wish-list.

2// Pacifica Perfume - I've never owned a bottle of perfume before. My husband is super sensitive to strong smells (especially floral ones) and I've always preferred the lighter smell of a body spray. However, I'm always drawn to beautiful perfume bottles and wishing I could find a scent that is light and sweet and not too overbearing. I've really enjoyed some of Pacifica's scents lately and found this bottle of Indian Coconut Nectar and I'm hooked! I think this still acts more like a body spray than a perfume as far as length of scent goes, but the smell is divine! I'm also kinda obsessed with coconut.

3// Sexy Peel Soap by LUSH - I'm a self proclaimed Lushie. I can never leave that store with one thing! I even had a moment this weekend where I deeply considered a job offer from them, but had to turn it down because I'm doing Maiedae (and loving it!). BUT I sure would love that discount! And I love telling people about it. Maybe I'll find some extra time on my hands during the holidays? Unlikely. ;) I've been eyeing this soap for a couple of shopping trips now and finally got them to cut me a slice. It smells like lemon, sugary perfection.

4// Porefessional by Benefit - Benefit wins the award for adorable packaging and clever marketing. I spent several minutes oooing over their booth in Ulta the other day and had the chance to try out this pore corrector/primer goddess of love. The texture is very silky and light and I've heard great reviews on it so far...on my birthday list? Yes please!

5// Rifle Paper Co. Stationary - Because everything in their shop is beautiful and because I really need to write some thank-you cards! My sister-in-law is the best at doing this for everything and I need to get  with the program. I think I'll start with these cards. ;)

6// Salted Caramel Sauce by Sweeteeth - I first discovered this company in Greenville at a hand-makers festival and immediately bought their caramel sauce. It's SO yummy. Especially on popcorn, apples, vanilla bean ice cream, or better yet...hot apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream and hot salted caramel goodness drizzled all over the place.

FANCY SHMANCY: SPRING TO-DOs

During this beautiful season and beautiful weather, I've been scheming up a lot of fun to-do's for my home and with friends that I want to accomplish before summer hits! I LOVE this time of year.

1// Make fancy drinks for my friends and come up with a couple of recipes of my own. 2// Finally put together my own font. 3// Get my workout on! I love that Jenny and I are now exercise buddies, it's SO helpful having someone to keep you accountable. 4// Have fun with nail art. I'm thinking this also includes a few girl nights with plenty of snacks and a great movie. 5// Decorate the studio space for Maiedae. 6// Sketch out my next tattoo idea and find an artist to put it together for me. 7// Hang plants in my home near the windows. 8// Find a bathing suit. 9// Print photos, including some of these amazing draft sized photos.

What's on your to-do list for the spring?

FANCY SHMANCY: SPRING WISHLIST

1// Flippy Dress - I've been loving the look of a fit and flair dress lately. I'd like to get a small collection to wear this Spring. This pattern is beautiful and would look so great with a pair of colorful shoes and some of my favorite gold jewelry. So ready to start dressing warmer.

2// Rope Hammock Chair - Jon and I have a little porch upstairs that leads out from our bedroom. We've talked about getting a Hammock or swinging chair to put out there to enjoy the sunshine and rest. Now I can't stop thinking about getting one. :)

3// Ipsy Glam Bag - You've heard me talk about Popsugar and I can't wait to get my next box this month! But I'm also excited to start a new subscription service with Ipsy. Ipsy is a $10 per month beauty subscription service that includes premium sized samples of great beauty products. You fill out a mini questionnaire and they put together a custom package for you each month, usually worth $50-$60. I'm really looking forward to trying out some new products!

4// Dainty Rings - I've been collecting gold dainty rings lately and I love the unique shape of this one from Stone & Honey.

5// Moon Nightlight - It's always nice to have a nightlight lighting up dark halls. Why not make it a moon light? I love how this looks and think it would be so pretty in our upstairs hallway.

6// Striped Bow Flats - I love an oversized bow on pointy flats. This is the perfect "mixing patterns" pair of shoes that would look great with so many pieces.

7// Kors Gold Watch - I've been eyeing this beauty for a couple months now. Jenny and I are going to New York in June for the Alt Summit conference and I'm thinking about saving all of my birthday money to buy one there. I tried it on at a store a couple weeks ago and loved how it looked, especially with all that sparkly bling. :)

8// Warby Parker Glasses - It's about time I update my prescription glasses. I'm currently in the process of trying on a few pairs to pick out new ones. Looking forward to seeing better. ;)

9// Modkat Litter Box - I love how attractive and modern these kitty litter boxes are. Our current one is huge, bulky and hard to hide. I like how if these are seen it's not a complete eye/nose assault.

10// Modern Chair - I'm thinking a pair of these for our living room might be the perfect pop of color that we need! I love the shape, legs, and color of these chairs. I'm especially a fan of the sale price. ;)

What's on your spring wishlist?

FANCY SHMANCY: POPSUGAR MUST HAVE BOX

This month I decided to give a box subscription service a try! There are a lot of great options out there for handmade lovers, paper lovers, beauty lovers, and more. The reason I decided to try out POPSUGAR was because it's more of a "lifestyle" box that includes goodies for your home, entertainment, wellness, and beauty. This is a little more on the expensive side of subscription box services, but you are paying $35.00 for a month and receiving over $100.00 worth of quality items. Wouldn't this be a great idea for a Mother's Day gift or maybe for a friend that just moved into a new place? Or maybe you're like me and just love receiving prizes in the mail and want to try it out for yourself. ;)

You can subscribe to POPSUGAR for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months at a time. I decided to go for the 3 month subscription and see if it was something I would enjoy. I'm really excited about trying out new products that I'm not familiar with or have always wanted to buy! Check out the site here if you'd like to order one of your own! AND you can check out the video below to see a first impression "unboxing" of the March box. Whoohoo!

Overall, I was SUPER thrilled with the products. I loved how the box had a "get ready for spring" vibe. I'm big into themes. ;) Ahh! I'm so excited about the next box! Do you subscribe to a box service? What are some of your favorites? Happy weekend!

Subscribe to my YouTube Channel here | Google Reader is going bye-bye! Be sure to follow Maiedae using an alternate subscription service. Might I recommend Bloglovin' or Feedly? Follow Maiedae on Bloglovin' here. :)

FANCY SHMANCY: FEBRUARY FAVORITES

1// Whole Living Magazine - I love this magazine. It's one of my all-time favorites. It's important to stay inspired to be healthy and do good things for yourself. I like to just keep this magazine by my side all day for a little light reading here and there. ;)

2// Kate Moss Lipstick - I'm always on the hunt for great lipstick. I picked up a couple tubes of Rimmel's Kate Moss lipstick to try out and was pleasantly surprised, especially by the slight berry scent. I could get used to lipsticks smelling like something other than wax and...beans. ?

3// Warby Parker - It's no secret that I truly love Warby Parker. I recently went to the eye doctor after 5 YEARS of not going. What? Anyway, I need some new frames so I can see better! I ordered a new box of home try-ons and it just reminded me of how much I love that fact that you can try on a couple pairs in the comfort of your home for free, think on it, get a couple opinions and then order the ones you like! I might need some help deciding which ones to pick!

4// Thomas O'Brien for Target Sheets - Jon and I recently bought a new sheet set for our bed. It's amazing how a new set of sheets can make your bed feel luxurious and fancy. We were just saying this morning how cozy our bed is. Love me some new sheets.

What are your February favorites??

FANCY SHMANCY: WATERCOLOR

In case you didn't know, my business partner, Jenny, is SUPER talented. Not only is she a great designer but she's also an incredible artist. Ever since we first met in college, I have always loved seeing her work, exploring her sketchbooks, and watching her pass the time in web-design class with an illustrator drawing of our campus. She is especially great at portraiture and landscapes. Every time I go over to her apartment I love looking at all of her work everywhere. :) She is also the type of person that's not afraid to try new things. She picked up some watercolors a couple months ago after getting the itch to develop her skills and created some beautiful wildlife pieces. I just love the little fawn and the hawk! She's planning on doing watercolor portraiture soon. I might just slip her a photo of Jon and me...

Check out Jenny's society6 shop here. :)

FANCY SHMANCY: WISHLIST

1// Adobe Photoshop CS6 - I currently have CS5 and I've recently been working on the trial version of CS6 and I love it! I especially love that I can edit video on it and how much "sleeker" the user interface is. I'm a HUGE fan of photoshop. Love, love this program. 2// Giant Glitter Bobbi from Ban.do - I'm always using plain bobbi pins in my hair, especially to pull back the sides. I would love something playful with a little pizazz. 3// Feeling Younger Tint by Lush - I sampled this in the store and thought it was so neat. I've been wanting a face highlighter for awhile now and love how this product by Lush goes on and looks. It's super subtle and can be used to highlight your eyes, brows, cheeks, and lips. 4// Stacked Heel Lace-Up Boots from Forever21 - I have a lot of flat shoes, and recently I have been wearing more and more wedges and stacked heels. Since I'm a 5'3" girl, I like a little height. Love these inexpensive boots for only $35!

What is on your January wishlist?

FANCY SHMANCY: WOOD VENEER

Tumbleweeds Wood Veneer Sunglasses // I'm pretty sure Becca and Doug, the creators and masters of wood veneer eyewear, are geniuses. This couple works late nights to create stunning eyewear by hand. Their work is beautiful and has so much heart. These beautiful oversized round shades are definitely on my wish-list this year. One of my all-time favorite handmade shops!

Recover Remedies for Your Technology // A couple weeks ago, I received an iPhone case for my phone from Recover. They are a small business dedicated to making technology look elegant and distinct. I currently have this one and love it. I think there's something about using wood materials that make products like an iPhone case surprising and instantly loved. They also have a variety of products for your iPad and Mac AND do custom laser cut designs!

What are some of your favorite things this month?

I am a diehard glitter girl at heart. I can't help my love for a little glam, no matter how hard I try...I LOVE sparkles. To me, just a little touch of shine is perfect. Since getting my haircut, I've been thinking about getting a few hair pieces to replace the plain bobby pins I usually use. I love all of the products at Bando. Hair clips, jumbo bobbies, shoe clips, scarfs, jeweled combs...It's an eye feast for any girl with a crush on sparkle. ;)

1// Metallic Mini Pom-Pom Flower 2// Flurry Pouf 3// Glitter Bow Shoe-Clips 4// Good Time Color Riot Comb 5// Flash Bobbi Set 6// Sparkle & Shine Jumbo Bobbi 7// Crystal Crush Bobbi 8// Sparkle & Shine Bobbi Set 9// Up to No Good

I'm thinking I need some jumbo bobbi's and bow shoe clips in my life. ;)
